Eyeries Motorhome ParkPrivate aire

A proper aire, two minutes from the village.

The smaller part of Eyeries Holiday Park: level hardstanding bays with electric hookup, a full service point, WiFi included and a coded gate. Open all year round.

Alongside the holiday homes, Eyeries Motorhome Park is a private, gated aire in the village: level hardstanding bays with electric hookup, a full service point for water and waste, WiFi included, lighting and CCTV, with the pubs and shops of Eyeries a two-minute walk from the gate. Open all year round.

01

Level hardstanding with hookup

Flat, spacious bays with an electric hookup point, plus a grass overflow area. The level bays are constantly praised in reviews.

02

Full service point

Included in the nightly rate is fresh drinking water, grey waste and chemical toilet disposal, bins and recycling, and an all-in-one service area on site.

03

Gated, lit, CCTV

A coded barrier gate on the way in and out, lighting after dark and CCTV. You can lock up, walk to the village and sleep soundly.

04

Two minutes to the village

Causkey's and O'Shea's for a pint, O'Sullivan's store with its petrol station, hardware store and gift shop, the post office and general store and the village cafés, all on foot. The playground and Sensory Garden are beside the park entrance, and the village has its own strand and pier for a swim.

How the aire works

Water, waste, the gate and the road into the site

The service point

Water, waste, bins, recycling

Everything a self-contained van needs is in one service area on site. Fill the fresh tank, empty the grey and the cassette, drop the rubbish and recycling, then plug in on your pitch. Guests praise it again and again, and it is a big reason people stop here on a loop of the Ring of Beara.

  • Fresh drinking water tap
  • Grey waste drain and chemical toilet (black) disposal
  • Bins and recycling on site
  • Electric hookup on the hardstanding bays
  • WiFi included, across the whole site

Arriving and the gate code

Check-in, code, cash

Check in at the café at the entrance of the site. You pay there, cash on arrival, and get the code for the barrier gate, which you use on the way in and the way out. If the café is closed, call Colman for access and he will sort you out.

Colman was born and raised in Eyeries. Ask him anything at all about Eyeries and the Beara Peninsula. Guests describe him as friendly and helpful, and he knows the place inside out.

  • Check in and pay at the café by the gate

Access and vehicle size

Roads, length, levels

Eyeries is just off the R571 between Castletownbere and Kenmare. Stay on the R571 and take the turn for the village; put P75 WY02 into the satnav and it brings you to the gate. The minor coast roads beyond the village are very narrow in places (one guest in August 2024 warned about the extra coast ring), so keep a large motorhome to the R571. The maximum motorhome length listed for the site is 10 m; if you are close to that, call ahead.

  • 8.5 km north of Castletownbere (about 10 minutes)
  • 41.6 km south of Kenmare (about 45 minutes), 2 hours from Cork, 5 hours from Dublin
  • Maximum motorhome length 10 m
  • Level hardstanding bays, praised in review after review

Motorhome questions

Before you pull in

Are there toilets and showers?

No. There is no toilet or shower block on the site itself, so the aire suits self-contained vans with their own facilities. The café at the entrance has toilets during its opening hours (mostly Thursday to Sunday), and the village public toilets are about a five-minute walk from the gate.

Is the water at the service point drinking water?

Yes. The service point has a fresh drinking water tap for filling your tank, alongside the grey waste drain and the chemical toilet disposal. It is included in the nightly rate.

How long a motorhome can you take?

The maximum motorhome length listed for the site is 10 m. The bays are level hardstanding and Eyeries is just off the R571; it is the narrow minor coast roads beyond the village that guests warn about in a big vehicle. If you are near the limit, call Colman on 086 220 8743 before you set off.

Are you open in winter?

Yes, the site is open all year round, January to December. It is a quiet stopover on the Ring of Beara out of season. It is worth calling ahead in winter so Colman knows to expect you and can confirm the café hours.

Can I bring a campervan or a caravan?

Campervans are welcome at the same rates as motorhomes, €25 a night, or €30 with hookup. The park does not take tents. The bays were laid out for motorhomes, so if you are towing a caravan call ahead to check there is space. Pets are welcome too.

Do I need to book?

Most of the year you can pull in on the day, check in at the café and pay cash. It is a small aire, so a quick call ahead is a good idea in July and August and for the Eyeries Family Festival weekend, usually the third weekend of July. Call Colman directly on 086 220 8743.

Turn up, check in at the café, plug in.
